ADD SUV
ADD SUV, the second single off Booth newcomer Uffie‘s forthcoming debut set, may sound like a hedonistic, electro-informed dancefloor-scorcher, but in reality there’s more to it than meets the ear: those who listen closer will find that the lyrics the Parisian rapper/singer robotically intones over frequent Madonna collaborator Mirwais‘glossy synth backdrop are actually a mordant commentary on… uh, I’m not exactly sure. While it seems very likely that Uffie’s talk of behavioral disorders and gas-guzzling automobiles is intended as a satire of American culture, the message isn’t all that clear; in any case, the record’s club appeal should have most listeners grooving too hard to read too far into it. Topped off with the disoriented yet fresh guest bars of a well-cast Pharrell Williams, this track and much more can be found on Uffie’s forthcoming Sex, Dreams & Denim Jeans LP, due out May 31 via Ed Banger.

Janelle Monáe's 'ArchAndroid' Album Cover is Here!
"The ArchAndroid Crown: Designed by Zoman Ignatius, the half-elf, half-human mystic, reportedly 500 years ago. According to legend, the crown has several magic properties, as well as innovative technologies that can be employed only by The ArchAndroid. Zoman was a consummate inventor, artist and sculptor, a cross between Tesla and Da Vinci, and as such, he designed the crown to be a work of beauty that would embody the very spirit of Metropolis. According to legend, the crown features prominent Metropolis buildings and towers that will light up radiantly when the one and only true ArchAndroid wears the crown." Read More

M.I.A. Interview w/ NME
“Sorrrrry,” M.I.A.’s been busy - very busy. So busy our interview happens 44 hours later than was originally scheduled. Maya Arulpragasam has valid reasons for living up to her stage name, though, she’s only just back in London after being marooned in the US for 18 months; “banned”, she says, from leaving. Maya is seen by the government of her native Sri Lanka as a dissident, publicly accusing them of “genocide” for their part in a 26-year civil war that ended last May. She claims they’ve been “pulling the strings” recently to make life difficult: disappearing visa applications and hacking into her Twitter and email accounts, “wishing all kinds of crazy illness on my baby and stuff like that”.

UPDATE
'Born Into Brothels' leads to real-life happy endings for some
By Teresa Wiltz, The Washington Post February 25, 2005
For those who've seen the Oscar-nominated ''Born Into Brothels," the documentary that tracks the children of Calcutta's red light district, the ending lingers long after one has left the cinema: images of sweet-faced kids, wisecracking kids, talented kids, kids faced with not-so-happy endings.
The question persists: What happened next?

Delorean - "Stay Close"
"Stay Close” is immensely exuberant and can be used to soundtrack your happy moment of choice. It also captures a sound so familiar and straightforward that we never thought to question it before we read this:
Delorean are at the forefront of a burgeoning community of musicians, producers and dj’s who are mining the collective Spanish dance-music heritage of Balearic house and combining it with contemporary independent pop, European techno, shades of the ecstatic Madchester sound and hip hop.
this song makes me feel good. like i just stepped out of the shower on a warm & breezy day...

Homage of M.I.A. the Great!
loves it!
"In between pwning the internets by posting that MIA track yesterday (above) like one second after she Twitted it, we were on our investigative grind. We emailed MIA’s publicist, who got us the scoop: It’s a protest song against the New York Times, which printed a questionable bit on how Sri Lanka is now the best place to travel in 2010. Peep MIA’s Twitter for the full back story. “Space Odyssey” should be on her forthcoming album, which is set to drop this summer (potentially June). Get pumped.
According to MIA’s publicist:
It is called ‘Space Odyssey” produced by Rusko and M.I.A. The song and video were made Monday night for $100, after the New York Times, as she says: “fucked up so hard.”
Check her tweets – she obviously finds it reckless and ignorant of the paper to not even scratch their own walls on what is reality in Sri Lanka." -The Fader
