"Sammy Kitwara of Kenya won the 42nd Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race on Monday, winning the 6.2-mile run through the streets of Atlanta. He beat countryman Mathew Kisorio in a sprint to the finish, winning in a time of 28 minutes, 5 seconds."

Kids left alone die in apartment fire

"Two children left alone at home died in a fire Friday night, DeKalb police said.

Three children were left unsupervised at the Marquis Chase Apartments on Ashley Place near Pine Lake, police said. A space heater in a child's room likely started a fire at about 11 p.m.

A 4-year old and a 3-year-old died in the fire. A 2-year-old was hospitalized with burns.

The mother of the children, who was identified by police, and her boyfriend may face criminal charges." -AJC.com
